The Ulsan Carriage is set to make its official debut as a new experiential tourism attraction at Taehwagang National Garden, offering visitors a fresh and eco-friendly way to explore the city. Designed as an electric-powered sightseeing vehicle, the Ulsan Carriage allows both residents and tourists to leisurely tour major urban landmarks while enjoying Ulsan’s natural scenery. Through this initiative, the city aims to enhance visitor experiences and strengthen its appeal as a destination people want to return to.
On January 14, Ulsan City conducted a test ride and safety inspection event at the entrance of the Bamboo Ecology Center in Taehwagang National Garden. The event was attended by Ulsan Mayor Kim Doo-gyeom, elementary school students, garden interpreters, and couples, representing a diverse group of participants. During the test rides, the city carefully reviewed passenger convenience, route flow, and safety measures as part of its final preparations for full-scale operation.

The Ulsan Carriage was developed based on the concept of a Velo Taxi and operates entirely on electric power. Its introduction reflects Ulsan’s commitment to environmentally friendly transportation while aligning with the city’s identity as a garden-oriented urban space. In July 2024, Ulsan City signed a consignment agreement with the Ulsan Culture and Tourism Foundation, completing the production of 15 carriages by December of the same year.
The service will operate around Taehwagang National Garden and Ulsan Grand Park, two of the city’s most representative attractions among the “Ulsan 12 Scenic Views.” Each ride lasts approximately 40 minutes, allowing passengers to enjoy the surroundings at a relaxed pace. Seats are installed about two meters above ground, ensuring clear visibility, while the quiet nature of electric propulsion enhances the overall sightseeing experience. Each carriage can accommodate up to four passengers at a time.
Following a trial operation and stabilization period lasting until the end of February, Ulsan City plans to begin paid service in March. Carriages will operate at 20-minute intervals, with the fare set at approximately 10,000 won per person. A 50 percent discount will be offered to Ulsan residents, multi-child households, seniors aged 65 and older, and military personnel.
Reservations and payments can be made both on-site and through the “Wasseo Ulsan” smart tourism application. By integrating digital tourism services, the city aims to improve accessibility and manage tourist movement more efficiently.
Mayor Kim Doo-gyeom stated, “The Ulsan Carriage will offer citizens and visitors a unique way to enjoy urban tourism,” adding, “We will continue expanding diverse tourism content to establish Ulsan as a fun city and an attractive destination people want to revisit.”
More than just a transportation option, the Ulsan Carriage symbolizes a qualitative shift in Ulsan’s tourism strategy. By combining eco-friendliness, experiential travel, and urban sightseeing, the initiative is expected to increase visitor stay time at Taehwagang National Garden and contribute to revitalizing the local tourism economy.
